How It Works

• Before the fullscreen transition begins, the extension hides the heavy page elements that YouTube would otherwise move around in the DOM-such as the playlist, recommendations, comments, description, and like/dislike buttons. These elements cause significant processing overhead during the transition. After the transition completes, the extension restores these elements, so you see the same content as before, but without the delay.
• The extension supports the most common ways to trigger fullscreen: clicking the fullscreen button on the player controls, pressing the F key, and double-clicking the video itself. In all these cases, the transition is accelerated.
• It does not cover every possible method: pressing the Escape key to exit fullscreen or using the browser's F11 key to enter fullscreen will still have the original lag, as these are handled at the browser level and cannot be intercepted by the extension.
• This optimization is particularly beneficial for Chrome users. In Firefox, the transition is already fast, so the improvement is barely noticeable. In Vivaldi, there is an intermediate step in the fullscreen process that the extension cannot bypass, so the transition may still have some delay.
