Free OpenVPN Server Finder
Discovers and downloads OVPN config files for free public OpenVPN servers from VPN Gate.
Description
Free OpenVPN Server Finder is a browser extension that provides access to an always updated list of public OpenVPN servers sourced from the VPN Gate project, an academic research initiative by the Graduate School of the University of Tsukuba in Japan. The VPN Gate project is designed to promote awareness and use of globally distributed public VPN relay servers. This extension acts as a simple wrapper around the VPN Gate public API, fetching the latest server list and allowing you to download OpenVPN configuration files (OVPN) with a single click. It does not operate or maintain the servers itself but simplifies the process of discovering and using them.
Key Features
- Up-to-Date Server List: After installing the extension, open its panel and wait a few seconds for the list to refresh. It displays the current available public OpenVPN servers from VPN Gate, including details such as location, speed, and load. This is useful when you need to find a reliable server quickly, especially if previously used servers become unavailable.
- One-Click OVPN Download: For any server in the list, simply click the download button to obtain the corresponding OVPN configuration file. This file can then be imported into any OpenVPN client (such as OpenVPN Connect or Tunnelblick) to establish a VPN connection. This saves you from manually searching for or generating configuration files.
- Batch Download as ZIP: You can select multiple servers and download all their OVPN profiles together in a single ZIP archive. This is particularly useful when you want to try several servers or share configurations across devices without downloading each file individually.
- Bypass Government Firewalls: By connecting to a public VPN server, you can access websites that may be blocked by government firewalls or regional restrictions. For example, users in countries with internet censorship can use this extension to reach news sites, social media, or other blocked content.
- IP Address Concealment: When browsing the web through a VPN, your real IP address is hidden, and the VPN server's IP is shown instead. This helps protect your identity and location from websites, advertisers, or potential trackers. It is useful for maintaining privacy during everyday browsing or when accessing sensitive information.
- Strong Encryption on Public Wi-Fi: Public Wi-Fi hotspots (e.g., in cafes, airports, hotels) are often unsecured, making your data vulnerable to interception. By using a VPN, all your internet traffic is encrypted, securing your passwords, emails, and other personal data from eavesdroppers on the same network.
Please note that this extension is an independent wrapper built on the VPN Gate public API and is not affiliated with the VPN Gate project itself.
